School Closure Resources
April 1, 2020
Good Afternoon Morgan Hill Unified Families,
Today, Governor of Californa Gavin Newsom and California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond have stated that school buildings in California will remain closed for the remainder of the school year due to needed action to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
It is disheartening for all of us to know our students will not be back together in their classrooms. Learning in the presence of each other and their teachers has strong instructional, social, and civic advantages. The experience of school and a classroom community is so much more than assignments and individual academic work. We miss the many ways that a school community typically interacts and supports one another. However, we are experiencing an unprecedented time where we must continue to physically distance ourselves from one another. We are learning new ways to stay in contact and check-in, and we look forward to a future time when we can safely gather again.
Thank you for your immense support and flexibility. Though our school buildings are not open for classes, the school year is not over. We are committed to working with our staff, parents and the community to continually improve upon our distance learning process. We are also working on acceptable ways that we can celebrate the end of the year. We will provide more information as updates become available. Stay safe and be well.
